WMS 2002GG Stoneware with Spots - Leading Midfire Stoneware bodies

Application:

This fine-grogged, cement-coloured stoneware body features spots that become visible at temperatures above 1150°C. Suitable for throwing and hand-building small pieces.

Application Temperature:

1000°C - 1250°C

Specifications:

  • Grog / Graining: 20% / 0-0.2mm
  • Drying Shrinkage: 6.0%
  • Firing Shrinkage:
    • 1150°C: 4.0%
    • 1200°C: 6.2%
    • 1250°C: 6.9%
  • Water Absorption:
    • 1150°C: 3.8%
    • 1200°C: 2.5%
    • 1250°C: 0.8%
  • Sintering (Water Absorption ≤2.5%): Approx. 1200°C

At least 15 of the 20 bags of clay that I bought were riddled with small air bubbles which meant that they needed to be wedged thoroughly even for slab work. This added a lot of time to my production and was a real pain in the ass. I emailed deco pot and got a condescending response from Paul telling me to ‘kneed’ it a bit, but no offer for compensation or explanation. Obviously there has been an issue with production when pugging and de-airing the clay - this is a fault with the product. I’m an experienced potter but was given the brush off and treated like a complaining novice.

horrible clay...too wet...sticks to everything and won't cut cleanly. I rang office 10 days ago and was told they would get back to me. Haven't heard a word since then. Very poor customer service.
