At 1050Ā°C and above, it develops into a dark anthracite colour.

Safety Concerns with Black Clays
Concerns about the safety of black clays, both in the studio and on functional ware, are valid. Historically, some black clays were colored with manganese oxide, a known toxin.
NIGRA 2002 sold under the Primo-Pro label is manufactured by a reputable European supplier and widely sold throughout Europe. We have our supplierās absolute assurance that this body (pigmented with manufactured stains) is safe to use.

Fast delivery and great product!
I love the black clay and use it regularly. You do have to test your glazes as they react differently. I use engobes mostly and the black clay even manages to hold a porcelain engobe without it flaking off. Angela at Utopia Gallery Whanganui

Great clay, soft resistance to carving tools and can take it backwards a little when itās starting to dry out. Love the purple black colour when fired
