Abbots Charcoal Midfire Glaze

This popular mid-fire glaze is a reliable, silky-smooth matte.

It is a reliable off-black glaze best used on smooth clay bodies.

Use this glaze alone or under/over others for great layered effects.

Set density at around 1400g/l for single layer dipping or as low as 1260g/l for layering. Charcoal responds very well to additions of a flocculant (eg Epsom Salt) to the mixed glaze and this is highly recommended.

 Can easily be converted into a brushable glaze if dispersed in a suitable medium.

This glaze is considered safe for food-contact surfaces.
