Abbots Black Oilspot is a Cone 6 midfire brushable glaze with a bold, iron-rich glaze with a deep inky base and striking metallic speckling. On its own it evokes obsidian and volcanic rock; in layered work it becomes a dramatic foundation that adds contrast, movement, and cratered visual energy.

First two coats on this pot, visible on bottom half, is Black Oilspot. I like it but need to experiment some more to see if it always looks semi sheen. Also, I'm a messy player and this glaze sort of ended up on everything and not easy to remove haha!
